We spent our time together alternating between talking and eating. We mainly discussed about what foods and foodways have been brought by immigrants to South Africa?, what foods and foodways do emigrants take with them or miss when they move abroad? how have South African foodways shaped culinary traditions in other parts of the world? what foods and foodways from one region of Africa have traveled to another region? what challenges do immigrants and emigrants face when attempting to prepare familiar foods in foreign locations? what ways of eating do you suppress when eating with others who do not share your cultural background?
