Participation in the Third Biennial Conference on Fisheries and Coastal Environment (CFCE) in Accra from November 6 – 8, 2023. Organized by the Centre for Coastal Management-ACECoR, University of Coast (UCC) as part of its 10th Anniversary, the 3rd edition of the Biennial Conference on Fisheries and Coastal Environment (CFCE), focused on the Blue Economy. The conference-themed “Inclusive Blue Economy in Africa: Towards Sustainable Transformation and Resilience of the Marine Environment” was designed to strengthen policy linkages and enable researchers, journalists, and think tanks to include their voices in developing Ghana’s blue economy. In this conference, I learned, interacted, and exchanged ideas with young researchers from the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, and Kenya. I also learned a lot from the experts on the importance of sustainable governance of the ocean, the interest in prospecting the Blue Economy in Africa, the benefit of exploring and reducing ocean use conflicts, reducing maritime crime and marine pollution, and exploring the value chain of the Blue Economy during the two plenary sessions and four parallel sessions, the keynote presentations, panel discussions, open forums, and scientific presentations. My objective in participating in the three-day meeting was reached despite the other political side of the conference.
